Lafayette's third-consecutive Patriot League Tournament appearance was a 10-inning defensive battle against Bucknell. The game was scoreless until the Bison's Sam Rollandi scored the lone run of the contest for the 1-0 victory. The Leopards (24-23, 13-7) will now face Army for the second straight year in an elimination game on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Despite leading 6-1 after five innings, the Lafayette baseball team could not hold on for the win and dropped an 8-7 decision to Rider in the team's final game of the season. The Leopards' offense scored at least one run in the first four innings but the bullpen gave up seven runs en route to the loss.

Lafayette softball secured a Patriot League Tournament berth after a sweep of Colgate on April 19-20. The Leopards were the first team to ensure their spot in the postseason tournament with a then 12-4 conference record. An opportunity to host remained going into the final regular-season series, but Lafayette dropped 3-of-4 games at Army and earned the No. 2 seed.

Lafayette junior shortstop Daniel Bierce (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team, the conference announced on Wednesday. The All-League honor is the first of Bierce's career and comes following a season in which he put up career numbers in several categories.

Six members of the women's track & field team were named to the All-Patriot League First Team in seven events to earn a third-place finish at the 2008 Patriot League Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy. Freshman Janica Austin was named the Rookie of the Meet for her performances in the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles and 4x100 meter relay. Senior Kristen Kalinowski was awarded the Field Performer Athlete of the Meet for her victories in the heptathlon and high jump.

The Lafayette baseball team split a doubleheader with Stony Brook on Saturday in Stony Brook, N.Y. The Leopards won the first game 3-0 behind the solid pitching of freshman Zach Fritz, who tossed a complete game two-hitter. Lafayette let an 8-0 lead slip away to suffer a 13-8 loss in the second game.

Lafayette Athletics recognized its senior student-athletes on Monday afternoon in Pfenning Alumni Center. The Athletics Department presented the Class of 1913 Trophies and Charles L. Albert Awards, which are given annually to honor those who have excelled academically as well as athletically. Soccer's Scott Hawkins and track and field's Ashley Harbin took home the Charles L. Albert Award while swimming's Jaryd Freedman and track and field's Katie Schultes won the Class of 1913 Trophy.
