Griffin Pulls in Patriot League Softball Rookie of the Week Honors

March 24, 2008

EASTON, Pa. - Freshman infielder Kerry Griffin (Allenhurst, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) has been named the Patriot League Softball Rookie of the Week following her efforts at the plate during the Rebel Spring Games.

The Allenhurst, N.J. native boasted a .450 batting average while in Florida including two RBI. Griffin was 3-for-4 against Columbia in a 9-3 victory for the Leopards. She had her second 3-for-4 day in an 11-1 win over Manhattan on the final day of the tournament.

The English major spent significant time at first base, starting in four games while also playing shortstop in one game.

Lafayette (4-9) played eight games over four days in Kissimmee, Fla. and will open the season at home on Tuesday at 3 p.m. against Drexel.
